How to Spot a Fake Crypto App or Site

Fake apps and sites are designed to look real, with one goal: stealing your login or seed phrase. Here are the warning signs and how to stay safe.

Warning signs

  • A slightly different URL: like "bınance.com" instead of "binance.com" — read the link carefully.
  • It asks for your seed phrase or private keys: no legitimate app ever needs them.
  • Promises of "guaranteed" returns or unrealistic profits.
  • An app outside the official stores (App Store / Google Play) or sent via a message link.

How to protect yourself

  • Download apps from official stores only and verify the developer name.
  • Go to sites by typing directly in the address bar, not from message links.
  • Only enter your password or seed phrase inside the verified, official app.
